As of this writing, I have had more than one year of experience with this recorder. The Yamaha 300 series are my other records. I got this Aulos because I was not comfortable playing the Yamaha 300 series tenor. I'm an intermediate player. I think I can speak to what it does well and what requires more struggle, but others with more experience do more with the instrument. The bad: It's easier to reach on the Yamaha 300 tenor that I used for a while. My middle three fingers can stretch out to 5". My first finger is 6 inches wide and 7 inches long. I could do it with the Yamaha, but it was tiring. I find the low C to be a little difficult. It probably depends on things like the humidity and the condition of my skin, but sometimes I need more force to get a good seal or an awkward twist on the right wrist or elbow. I like the sound of the middle part of the range. The instrument is easy to play there. It's not a problem up through high G. The price I paid was reasonable. The bad. The low C has a thin and weak tone that I don't like. It might be a compromise from having a short instrument. The Aulos has a double hole, but the Yamaha that I used had a key for the low C/C#.
